Brand new to chickens and moving into TN winter!

I so much appreciate the tips and "welcomes" to the neighborhood! I'll definitely do the 2x4 for the roost and keep an eye on the frost bite situation. Thanks everyone!

I live in northern Alabama near the Tennessee line. I winterized the coop but chose not to use artificial heat. I had two hens however a hawk killed one this past week. We have been swamped with rain the past two weeks causing the ground to be saturated which has caused the sand in the coop to be wet, though it is dry in the roost area. My problem is the temperature is suppose to be in the low 20's and one night around 9 degrees. I'm concerned, since I only have the one leghorn and it's so wet, she will not do good in those tempatures. Please send any suggestions you may have for this situation, I would appreciate it.
