As you are already knee deep in information I will simply say Welcome to BYC!

I am new, new to chickens. We have six Golden Comets 5 1/2 months old. Not one egg yet. Not even a soft suggestion like "I might lay and egg today so I will sit in the nesting box." I let them out in the morning to free range and then they are back in the run.

Any input?

Golden Comets are fast to mature and start laying at a younger age than most chickens.
Mine started laying at 18 weeks, which is 4 months. They were Spring babies, though. Time of year makes a difference.
Good luck to you!

I do let them out every morning for about two hours. But, I watch them (I think). Would I be missing "all" the eggs in the two hours they are out? Once again, my post was "I have six Golden Comets, no eggs, five months old. I have had them for three weeks".
