My chicks are now 10 weeks and I have been feeding chick starter by Manna Pro. I know it is expensive but it is what I wanted and a quality I liked. I just found out that they don't have a starter/ grower. I don't know what would be a good next step. I think of Purena as a dog food that I didn't care for. The other foods I don't know anything about. What do I look for?? What do you feed? They get people food as healthy treats and they have free range in the evenings. I know we can't discuss product so you can PM if needed.

I have used Purina Start and Grow Medicated with great success. I use it right up until they are 18 weeks old and ready for layer feed.

Thanks for your vote of confidence with that food. I did end up buying a 25lb bag.

I am not a big fan of Purina Chickens foods, After I am done with chicken starter I feed, A grower or Flock Rasier, For chickens or Turkeys ( Grower ).

Purina Pet Food and Purina Livestock Feed are two completely different companies.
Purina Pet Food is owned by Nestle and Purina Livestock Feed is owned by Land O Lakes.

I have used Purina also with success. I should say however that I don't approve of their philosophy on an all vegetarian diet (unless you can let yours free range at least a couple hours a day to find animal protein) also their non medicated starter is not carried hardly anyplace. I usually switch to flock raiser at 6 weeks until I see an egg.

With all that said.... My absolute favorite food for the money is "Blue Seal". It is just hard for me to get it where I live. I am one of those people that think the 4 plus % of calcium is only needed for the commercial production facilities. Blue seal has a "breeder pellet" that is only about 2.5% . Of course the calcium thing wont effect you for a while when yours start laying...but they do have a good starter and grower

I use blue seal myself or i use one of the local feed mills feed, Purina always seems to be broken up and real dusty. I do use it at times.
