Hi,
I'm new here, and we don't quite have the ducks yet. Our fence should be showing up this week. We are hoping to free range during the day, after a week or so for them to get used to their new home. I'm also wondering how they do with cats; is that going to be a problem?
I was looking for a watering system for them tonight and came across these brass cups:

Has anyone used these? I've read great things about the red plastic ones; what about these? They are saying they are new, but the look old. Hhmmm...
Thanks for any advice you have for us!

They would be nice for chickens but ducks need something where they can actually dunk their heads into and wash their faces they also drink a lot of water to wash down their food. if getting ducklings keep the cats away until ducklings are too big to eat, some have lost newly hatched duckling to their barn cats. adult ducks and juveniles should be fine unless you have extremely aggressive cats. that fend for themselves. Ducks love to free range but remember there are risks birds of prey and also land predators are always hungry and looking for an easy meal, and as with any poultry they need to be locked up at night in a secure well ventilated building.
