Thanks for reminding me of that good point.
We do have small weasels up tp 12 inches here. I have the pen that I raise the youngesters in chicken wired but not usually the adult pens. I have not lost any Jersey Giants to the weasels but they are much bigger than the Icelandics. Oh well another task on the list...

I would replace that chicken wire with hardware cloth as there are too many predators that can tear through chicken wire, or squeeze through the openings in the mesh. It will add some extra expense, but it's cheaper than replacing chickens. Also if you have raccoons in your area, be sure and use a padlock or a double action latch on your coop doors as raccoons can quickly figure out how to open single action latches.
