My wife gets free stale bread from work and hand feeds the deer all time. She has now started to give it to the chickens, just wondering if this bread will gum up the works on chickens.
This is bakery bread and rolls.

I would stick to their feed and only a few occasional treats like leafy greens and watermelon. It's easy for chickens to become overweight which really causes all sorts of issues.

Moderation is what is key. I give my birds loaf bread, cornbread, biscuits just what I have that needs to go. I give them loaf bread daily as a treat and never had an issue.i think as long as the majority of their diet is grain and or grass, insects, stuff like that then they will be fine.over feeding them can cause them to be overweight but I've never had an issue. I give 5 slices to 13 birds I give wheat and white. They prefer white but I do try to buy wheat mostly.

No it’s nothing over excessive, a few hard rolls maybe every other day for 11 birds.
Other than that it’s their feed and meal worms occasionally

Then they should be fine. It's up to you how much or how less you want them to have but overall I've never had an issue feeding bread to mine they enjoy the treat and it trains them to be how I want.
