Rotel is the brand name for a canned tomato and green chile combination.

Don't feel bad about not knowing. I'm not a yankee and I didn't know what it was until I moved to Arkansas.

Did you tell them that grits are meant to be eaten with salt, pepper and butter? Really easttx! I thought you raised your chickens to know better!

Actually, they did have salt, pepper and butter plus cheese. DH ordered them that way and his eyes were bigger than his stomach, much to their delight.
Myself...I can't stand grits, they're just too gritty.

I'm a California girl and nobody can figger out why I like the food grits. (I am specifying that distinction for obvious reasons.)

My maternal grandmother grew up in Cimarron, Kansas, but moved to Oregon long before my mother was born. I lived with her a while and LOVED grits.

I have a S. Carolina friend who occasionally send me a small burlap bag o' REAL grits for cookin' and she gave me the recipe for Red Eye Grits. Everybody out this-a-way looks at me really funny when I mention I've made myself some grits over the weekend.

That was even before I started keeping chickens.

I feed my Cayuga pair a cup of dry cat kibble every evening; they expect it.
