I've got this "breeding/brooder/medication pen" that I occasionally use, was wondering if it would work to break Broody behavior in a hen. Measures about 4'x 12', so not exactly a small wire cage.

If I lock the hen in the lower portion and make her stay on the concrete floor, she'd be surrounded by hardware cloth which should allow for plenty of air flow. Temps will be in the 80's this week with clouds and rain, nights in the low 70's, plenty of shade so the concrete shouldn't get too warm.

Will this work or is the small cage a necessity?

I will be watching this post. I have a pullet trying to be broody.

It should work , I’m not convinced much helps til they get the hormones out of their system ,a distraction, different things to look at , mine start eating and keep busy in a new environment

I put mine in a tractor on grass , the change of scenery is enough to break mine in a day or 2 and these are silkies and rir .
