With these types of Productions birds, there are a lot of hybrids out there. Its really important to be careful because they all look very similar. Production reds, NHRs, Cinnamon Queens, red sexlinks, all came from RIRs.

I've never heard of a production red. Is that a RI cross or something altogether different and I'm assuming they are producing eggs not meat?

Yeah they produce more eggs than meat I believe

They are RIRs crossed with NHRs.

High production birds. Lay lots of eggs and are decent sized. They are dual purpose.

Some sort of Red/red cross would be my guess.

I have a RIR and a "Golden Comet" from Meyer Hatchery. The RIR has black feathers around her tail and an overall deeper red tone while my GC (production red) is a lighter "orange" color and has white feathers. Peaches, my GC, lays daily along with the White Leghorns, everyone else seems to take a day off here and there.
