Breed and confirm gender.

I've heard of the chicks somehow managing to fly out of their bins and land in another. Maybe that's how he ended up in there?

I've seen them doing it in a local, non-chain farm store -- jumping up on the rim of their horsetrough and jumping down into the next one.

That's a thought! He would have had to jump through five or six bins though... and they were supposed to be 3 to 4 day old chicks, but that wouldn't surprise me at all! I've had some very feisty chicks in the past and he's certainly been feisty!

A day-old chick couldn't, but a week-old one could.

So, 3 days in shipping and 4 days in the store = a chick that could possibly get bin to bin.

Oh I get that! But their shipment came in Thursday and it was Friday. They were definitely only a few days old and looking at their feathers too.
