I received chicks with a hatch date of March 11th. All breeds identified but this is my mystery chick that was sent as an extra. Breed was not specified on invoice. I've tried to ID through hatchery website, but going back and forth between olive egger and maybe blue orpington? And if anyone would give some insight to gender, that would great! This is my first batch of chicks, trying to be patient while they are maturing to see egg color. Pictures from current to March 13th. Thanks!

It's a little young to be accurate about gender. I'd give it another week or two, and watch for comb/wattle development. You can post updated photos in here any time you like.

Depending on what the hatchery lists, it could be many breeds. Blue Orpington, blue Australorp, blue Andalusian, Sapphire Gem, and yes, maybe an olive egger, though that seems less likely to me because it doesn't have a beard or pea comb. But maybe.

Well, got them from Meyer, so sapphire gem is out. They do sell the blue Andalusian but missed that one on the chick ID page. Their site does say olive eggers can have single comb, so that and the chick ID picture matched up. Guess this might be a lesson in patience for further development to see what breed this chick is. Very active but somewhat skittish, the way the tail feathers go straight up has me thinking Andalusian 🤔

It definitely too soon for at least the last 2 pics to tell gender but the first 3 pics, if they’re all different birds, are all looking like boys to me!
It's all the same chick. I was trying to show growth progression from freshly hatched on March 11th to April 9th. Hoping for a pullet. 😊

Blue Orpington. Has pink foot bottoms.
So here are some updated photos from April 28th. Approximately 7 weeks old. I do believe this is a Blue Orpington. Not seeing anything that would indicate something else. Thanks for breed ID. Still kinda wondering about gender since the comb and wattles aren't that pink. Do Orpingtons develop slow? Thank you for the input thus far!
