My husband rescued a Mama and 15 chicks from someone. I don't think they're all from the same Mama and I have no clue what the dad was, I am guessing they are a mix. Any Ideas what they might be? Picture 1 is of the Mama, Picture 2 is some of the babies at about a week. Picture 3 is Pox , this one is my Favorite, but I have no idea what gender is. Picture 4 - i am thinking Roo... Picture 5 is Capt Blackbeard. I'm thinking Roo on him too, but he's beautiful. I have about 3 others that vary in colors. Will post their pics in another post. Their colors have changed so much in the past week even.

Here they are at about a week old

The one you think is a roo, is definitely a roo. Pox appears to be a pullet so far. Can't say for sure. They are still very young. I don't think they are pure at all. You will have a mixed flock I'm sure :)

Mama looks like a Gamefowl cross perhaps. The last pics of the chick are definitely a cockerel. Pox needs a full body shot photo. Your rescued mama carries genes that makes it easy to sex chicks by color once they're feathered out enough. If Pox truly does have more brown, light brown markings all over instead of black and reddish, she's a gal.

ETA - spoke too soon, that's a definite girl

This is one of the 2 that look like Welsummer little girls.

. This is Pox today. Front view of Pox
Here's Chuck Cluck Norris. He has to be a Roo! He's the biggest, and thinks he's the Boss. Blue the Cochin and Naked Nellie the Turken think otherwise.

Those 2 are Pox, and the one with the Green band on leg is Pox. The post that has only 1 picture isn't Pox. Sorry, there's 15 of them, they confuse me daily!
