I have three chickens that are about 8ish weeks. What are you guys thinking for gender?

The full black ones are Austrolorp/Ameraucana mix

The other is Ameraucana/Barred.

In the first picture with all three from left to right we have Pepper, (no actual name yet), Mno

Their names match other chickens in the coop so they are strange. 🤣

Pepper is a pullet, no name looks like a cockerel, and I’m thinking the barred one may be a boy as well, though I can’t see the comb quite well enough to tell.

My newbie guess would be pullets since I don't see large red combs or wattles, but don't take my word for it.

I named my two black chicks Pot and Kettle, lol.
We have an all white chick that’s the same age so we have salt and pepper. We also have our very first hen my son name L who is barred so when we got a second barred look a like we named it Mno 😅

The other is Ameraucana/Barred.
Which is the father? The Ameraucana or the barred? Because if the father is the Ameraucana and is not barred, then the barring came from the mother and therefore the barred chick is automatically a male.

Also, male specific feathers start to come in around 12 weeks, so 8 weeks is a little early to rule that out. But to me, the combs on all 3 look a little too big and pink for pullets. Except the barred one. That one’s comb looks small enough to me to be a pullet*. (Unless it turns out you have a sex-linked pairing.)

*Edit: upon further review, I think the barred one’s comb is actually big and pink enough to be a cockerel.

Are these 3 the only chicks you have, or just the only 3 that you are questioning? It would be rotten luck to get only male chicks.

The father is the barred one. No we have more these are just getting closer to being able to tell more. I almost feel like pepper the first black one is a puller because it’s comb is not pink at all. But maybe pepper will be a late bloomer. 😊
