Back again! The "Trio" as I've been calling them, although it's highly doubtful it's a true trio (two pullets and a cockerel,) are about 5.5 weeks old.

Buffy (everybody has at least one chicken named "Buffy," yes?) the little buff cochin I'm fairly confident is a pullet, the other two are still up in the air. And I still have no idea on the breed! They're still pretty young but I can't for the life of me match them up with any confidence to any of the OEGB colors, they're so many. Part of that depends on their gender, part of that depends on if they are, of course, actually OEGB (the Bantam Bin at Tractor Supply appears to be something of a potluck surprise.)

I think your other two are both Cinnamon Queen pullets, and I'd agree, the Buff Cochin looks like a pullet, too.
Do Cinnamon Queens vary that much in color? I have been cautiously leaning toward pullet for them, especially since my other little buff cochin is definitely a roo'.

Edit: You know, looking at photos online, I think you might be right! They were little chipmunks when younger and there seem to be hundreds (an exaggeration, I know) of chicken breeds that start out as chipmunks. Thanks for giving me a starting point and a probable ID.

Yes, they are a hybrid so their colors can vary. They are also a sex-linked breed where the females will hatch with red down and the males with white.

I'd put money on them being Cinnamon Queens. It looks like they have 2 different comb types which tracks with them being a Wyandotte (SLW) / RIR cross that is used to make them. At least the picture looks like one of them has a rose comb anyways.

Excellent 👍. Although I would not buy a production egg-layer on purpose (I'm more into rare, unusual, interesting, breeds,) getting a couple by accident is much preferable to getting a couple of cockerels.

Couldn't tell you about the combs, the one has a single comb for sure, but they're pretty flighty since they haven't been handled much so I haven't had a good look at the other. They were kept in a brooder on the floor for the most part and it's a bit difficult for me to get down on the floor with them these days.

Of course, this presents the problem of room. I guess I'll be starting the new coop in the next couple of weeks!

Oh, and since it looks like they'll be staying on, they now have names. Cinnamon and Queen (the group, not the monarch.) Original I know. Might be temporary names, we'll see.

Oh, and I'm thinking of changing Buffy to Helena. We'll see if it sticks.

Since it's looking more and more like Pippin is a roo, Helena née Buffy may be moving along with Falco. I'm thinking it would be easier to move the pair than just the roo. Maybe I'll look for a started pullet next year.

Perfect! I hope the coop build goes well! You'll get more than enough advice here I'm sure if you come across any hangups or questions.

I keep a pair of bantams and they do well together, so that's an idea if you have the space. Best wishes to them all!

Back one is a buff cochin. Don't be surprised if she is super lazy typical cochin personality traits. The other 2 cinnamon queens maybe
