I have 6 chickens, breed unknown. We've been told New Hampshire Sussex, Lohmann Brown or Barter Brown.

The older ones were hatched at the end of February, and I'm confident they're pullets. The younger ones at the end of May, and there's about a week between the dark ones and the lighter ones.

Rocky (the lighter backed one) and Sparkle, my big girls.

Sparrow (Not sure if Jack Sparrow or Sally Sparrow!)

Striper (pretty sure he's a he):

The eggs for the big 2 were from a hatchery and hatched at my kids school. The FAQ on the hatchery webpage says they do Australorp, New Hampshire Sussex, Black and White Leghorn, and Lohmanns.
The other 4 were hatched at a different school, and I don't know where they got their eggs from.

The red with white tails are your Red Sexlinks. Your gold with white tails look to be Gold Sexlinks. (Which if accurate, means you have all girls for those as that's the point of sex link breeding...to hatch chicks with gender noted by down color)....the Lohman is such a sexlink.

The solid red birds look to be Production Reds...which can be a hatchery "New Hampshire."

Thank you! It makes it confusing when there are different names for the same breeds across different countries!

Just so you know, if you have Lohmans, they are not a "breed." They are a hybrid...red based roo bred over a white (silver) based hen, to produce chick with sex linked down...red fawn for girls developing into the classic orange-red body with white tails and hackle bleed through.

Production Reds aren't necessarily a "breed" either has they are commercial quality egg layers based loosely on Rhode Island Reds or New Hampshires.

Just so you know.

Just for fun, here are the little ones when we first got them (and a snuggle puddle on my lap a fortnight ago). Striper has the dark wings; Sparrow has the light brown wings, and Steggles and Pippi are the blondes.
