Solved the mystery of one of my girls, and now I'm starting the hunt for pinning down the chicks ;-) ... We have 2 leghorns, buff orpington (she is raising the chicks, aptly named "Mama"), barred rock, red star and colombian rock. Three of the chicks are white with random black spots, four are black with brown and some white speckles throughout, and the adorable one looking at the camera ("Gonzo") has a beautiful white face (barred rock maybe??). One has a completely black comb.

Not sure of gender or breed of any of these, and was going to wait until they were a little older, but thought I would put it out there for any suggestions ;-) There may have been other breeds involved aside from the ones listed above, so this should be fun!!

Thanks all!!

So these chicks came from your flock, correct? That means they're all going to be mixed breed birds, unless you have a rooster and a hen of the same breed. Knowing what rooster you have could help narrow things down, and let us know if there are any sex linked birds in the mix that would help id gender early.

The chicks are all from the breeder that I purchased the older girls from. They are an assortment of extras but they are from heritage breeds. The only sex link I know of is the Red Star. Not much to go on, I know ;-)
