Breed and Gender???

Hi,

My 3 yr old son was given this chick by a well intended friend...but I simply don't need roos--the neighbors don't like the crowing!!! I'd like to get some opinions on what kind of chick it is and its gender. Here is its picture.

Thank you for the feedback. I'll be getting pictures of his 5 White Leghorns so I can get help sexing them. So confusing...lol

Hello, if it has feathered feet, I would guess Barred Cochin. The comb is not very pink and I don't see wattles, so I would guess a girl. I could be wrong and am no expert, but I actually had a pair of those a month ago.

It's a barred rock.
At this stage it could be either a roo or pullet but I'm leaning towards roo.

Some things I've read re sexing Barred Rocks...a small distinct dot on the back of their head= hen. A very large or even 2 overlapping dots = roo.

Also, re down color - very black = hen and more silvery/frosty color = roo.

Finally, very dark color on front of legs = hen and little or no color on front of legs = roo.
