Breed, color and gender questions.

Also, there is not nearly enough differenciation between the coloration of the feathers on the head vs the body feather. In a BBS blue, the head would be almost blackish blue, while the body would be blue with very dark lacing. Your birds just aren't exhibiting this. They look very much like Lavendar Orpingtons.

thanks for all the replies. The mottled japanese bantam.laid her first egg the other day it was tiny. The cochin hen started laying on a batch today I'm excited to see all her babies. She is sitting on a few of her own, one buff orpington, and three of the mottled japanese.
 
I agree that the first is likely a mottled jap. how short are the legs? It could be a mottled OEGB, but I'm betting on jap. Cochins are red male and wheaten female. She is NOT buff.
 
she has really short legs, the same size as my buff jap ones.
