Breed Confusion

Really weird- a red rooster crossed with a blue hen should only produce blue or black chicks!

There's some interesting genetics in play! No idea how you ended up with chipmunk/striped babies!
 
I will add that when we culled the BJG cockerel he was 7 lbs alive, and 4 lbs processed. We culled him with a Blue Laced Red Wyandotte cockerel of the same age as him that weighed 2 lbs and 12 ounces processed.

Wow! That was a small BLRW cockerel! Good size for the BJG.

We processed a BJG male at 22 weeks last December - he was over 9lbs live!! We were not expecting quite that size at that age!
 
I have determined that the "BJG" pullet is the same size as my GLW pullets of the same age as her, so I have pictures of them next to my Buckeye cockerel that is also the same age as all of them. Here are the comparison pictures.
