To preface my post these are more theoretical rather than concrete questions, if that makes sense.
We had a Salmon Favorelle rooster (surprise out of the pullet box who was nice so he ended up staying) and he happened to be in a pen with a Silver Laced Wyandotte hen. We had a broody EE hen who sat on some eggs and the hatch rate wasn't fantastic (loved her chicks just was a terrible mother and we stepped in a little too late). Only one hatched and it happened to be a hen and we didn't know what breed she was until she fully feathered out but it then became apparent that she was a Salmon Favorelle x SLW. She's a gorgeous color/pattern with the salmon being laced by the black. She looks like a favorelle other than the black lacing.
Sorry for all the background info. My questions are:
1) My mom and I toyed with the idea of "creating" a breed. I know she was just a barnyard mix (she is affectionately called Mutt) but she has an awfully pretty color. Would it be something anyone was interested in? Has this pattern been worked on before?
2) I'm guessing I would need to breed to the Favorelle SOP? I know for Marans some people do the French over the American SOP. How do you choose if that applies for Favorelles?
3) What is the SOP and how do I find a guide for it?
4) If I posted pictures of the chickens would anyone be willing to critique them? They're just hatchery stock so they're probably not the best quality but they've been lovely pets so I've never worried about the SOP.
5) Would someone explain the genetics I would need for this as it related to SOP? Like if one has white vs yellow legs or comb type.
I'll post some pictures of Mutt tomorrow. Thanks for reading this if you managed to make it this far!

These aren’t the best pictures because they REFUSED to stand still at all. The first and last are of Mutt and the others are her parents. The SLW was in a raccoon attack in 2016 which is why her head looks funny.
edit: The SLW’s head/neck are super blurry or otherwise you’d be able to see her scars.

OMG! Beautiful!!!! Wow wow wow......... I know I'd want 1 or 2...... But Beautiful babies!
Thanks!
Because our GLW is also in that pen with the Salmon Favorolle rooster I wanted to try incubating a couple of eggs from it tomorrow after the incubator arrives. He is older so he may not be as fertile anymore but it doesn’t hurt to try. I’m curious if the GLW cross will still produce the same effect (black lacing on salmon) or if the gold will affect it. Hopefully I get another hen so I can compare. My question is can anyone identify the GLW egg out of these two? The other is a golden comet egg. I think it’s the lighter egg (GLW) but I’m not sure.

@Star2014 I just found this thread but I’ve been creating a breed of my own for about 4 years now. To answer some of the questions in the original post, if you want to create another color variety of an established breed, then you’d breed to the established SOP. If you want to make a totally different breed, the options are limitless. You’d make your OWN standard and breed for traits you like. I will say that developing a breed takes years of work and a lot of homework on genetics. I’m still learning a lot as I go. For me, I want an all purpose breed that’s the perfect homestead free-range bird that’s a great layer, great meat chicken, and very pretty as well. I’ve never been satisfied with most purebreds in some way so I wanted to make my own to suit my needs. You can check it out at:

Good luck with your project and please keep us updated!!
