White Leghorns can hide barring. But you can't have Barred birds magically pop up without having the barring gene.

There's Transverse Pencilling, which is completely different, & more then one gene is involved to produce it. It's what gives Gold Campines, Death Layers, & Egyptian Fayoumis their patterns.


Barring is something I have most experience with.
The rooster is the White Leghorn x Olive Egger. I think that the Olive Egger in that cross had the Creole color.
 
A black sex link is usually a Barred rock hen with a Rhode Island Red rooster. The barring only shows on the roosters but not the hens and I’m betting the barring would show itself in some babies if there was another parent with some barring genetics
Yes, only males are Barred with that crossing.
A single Barred male would only produce only about 50% Barred, & None barred offspring.
