Hello,

These are my new chicks. They are mixes, but I keep trying to guess what they may be. Parents could be any of these: turkens, cochins, rhode island red, blue austrolorpe, buff orphingtons, leghorns, cornish rocks, barred rock.

Which of the breeds are the roosters and which are the hens?

I see a BR crossed with...

could be anything.

I also see a Turken crossed with a Blue Australorp...

The two on the left are probably some of the Buff Orp mixes.

The red one in the middle is most likely an RIR cross.

Call me crazy but that last pic look like a partridge silkie cross. Is the skin black? Does it have five toes? I see the feathered feet, so if not a silkie cross, then surely a cochin cross, as that is the only feather footed breed you have listed.

I'm not really sure, but I think the breeds listed were all hens. It was the list the lady gave me. I only saw one rooster and it was big and buff colored. Very pretty. I'm sure there was another rooster, but I didn't see it.

The second picture: I know it has black legs. I'll have to check the skin and toes.

The three buff all have feathers on the legs and toes. The brown one is starting to get feathers on the legs too.

The big gray one is the sweetest. Even seems to care for the little ones. I really hope it is a girl.

Thank you!

Well then it sounds like (assuming that the woman did not excluded any breeds from her list) that the rooster was Cochin. Making them all cochin crosses. LOL. The main thing that caught my eye is that the last chick looks like it has a topknot. Does it?

We may be missing a breed. She did say there may be a few others she couldn't remember. I never noticed a top knot, but I'm really new to chickens. There had to be other roosters, because the one I did see was a newer addition that someone had given them. She seemed to think the buff were probably from him.

Partridge Silkie. If not a pure, then a convincing cross. Congratulations! Does it have a single comb, or a walnut comb? That can help give a clue as to whether or not it is pure.

That is pretty cool. I will check on the comb. I can't remember on that one, the others are single comb for sure, so maybe that one is different because I don't recall it having a single.

I really had no clue when picking them out. I totally went by looks and cuteness. It is fun trying to figure out what they may turn out to be.

Thank you!
