I have this dark grey hen that was gifted to us. we’ve had her for a while but i realized i never discovered her breed. I always just assumed she was some sort of dark grey orpington, but i recently discovered grey Jersey Giants and she looks identical so now i’m not so sure!

I will say she is easily the largest hen we have and has longer legs/stands taller than my orpington ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ let me know what you think!!

I would check the color of the bottoms of her feet. If she were a Jersey Giant, you should see yellow. Otherwise, I’d say it’s likely a sapphire gem.
i’ll have to check under her feet, but now that i’ve looked up sapphire gems I’m thinking that may be exactly what she is!

Hello! When I saw the pic the first thing I thought of was a sapphire gem. Here’s a pic of my two-year-old hen :) View attachment 3521494
oh wow yeah, my girl looks IDENTICAL to this, literally did a double take bc i thought it was one of my pictures🤣 thank you for responding!! I’ll have to check under her feet bc someone mentioned the color of the bottom of their feet, but I’m almost certain now that she’s a Sapphire Gem!
