It’s from TSC.Like who knows what things hatcheries do behind closed doors.
They could come in that color. I don't rule out color possibilities in any breed.
I have a bird that looks almost exactly like the black one and she is a Dutch bantam .It's a white laced red Cornish bantam. Hatchery birds are not going to be perfect matches for the breed standard-- often they are a long way off. It's certainly not a modern game!
We need better pictures of the black bantam to know what it is. The long, high carried tail and small legs point to black Japanese bantam, but it's probably just a hatchery black OEGB.
It could be that, too. Hatcheries are carrying Dutch bantams more and more. It comes down to the earlobes-- white for Dutch, red for old English. Let's hope the hatcheries don't start messing that up!I have a bird that looks almost exactly like the black one and she is a Dutch bantam .
I have 2 Dutch Bantam hens (from breeder quality) and they're the most affectionate and friendliest birds I have. In fact, one of them is pictured in my profile pic. My OEGB's are hatchery birds and they're pretty sweet too. Both breeds are favorites here. Sounds like both of these pullets will fit in here if I get them. I'm just worried about integrating and the Cornish being a bit large for my other Dutch and Serama. It could be that, too. Hatcheries are carrying Dutch bantams more and more. Cornish bantams are usually mellow and sweet, so she'd probably fit right in. The earlobes should be pale in a Dutch bantam by the time they're fully feathered out. I can't think of a bantam breed I don't like. Maybe frizzlesI have 2 Dutch Bantam hens (from breeder quality) and they're the most affectionate and friendliest birds I have. The black birds legs remind me of my Serama, but I don't think hatcheries carry Seramas. As mentioned above, it could be an illusion and the bird is just carrying its wings low. I can't remember what age my Dutch girls got their nice blue earlobes. Seems like they were just a pale color for a while. I imagine at 4 months, the earlobes should be blue if it's a Dutch.
