Can someone tell me what type of hen this is?
She showed up last fall near my yard with her whole back torn up pretty bad. I didn’t think she’d survive but with some food, water, BlueKote and love she healed up and is such a sweet bird.
Anyway, she is still young but relatively small…I’m not sure she’ll get much bigger. She has white ear lobes, lays white eggs and has a LOT of large white feathers hidden in her wings (like when she flaps them I mostly see white). Her neck is dark red, body is lighter speckled red with black specks on her chest and has a mostly black tail.
I grew up with Rhode Island reds and never saw black or white on them and they laid brown eggs…can’t find anything like her online either. I’ve searched over and over again and haven’t been able to find a hen that looks like her. Any help would be appreciated!
