Hello All!
Long time reader (even before I took the plunge), first time poster! I have been anxiously awaiting the 6 week mark of development, hoping my chicks would be feathered enough for identification. I appreciate any replies!

I purchased 15, day old chicks from Hoovers Hatchery, delivered mid January. I purchased from the Hatchery Choice Rare Assortment and Hatchery Choice Colored Egg Layers Assortment. A screenshot of the possible breeds for both is included in the pictures. All are supposed to be pullets but I am suspicious of one. Time will tell, I suppose. The following pictures show one from each of the six different breeds. I question if number 6 is the same breed as number 5 but the pattern on the feathers and color seems a bit different. Each picture may show a different bird in that group, except number 6…she is an unique addition!

Probably more information than you actually need but as a day old chick and until they started feathering out…

#1-very fluffy yellow with brown around the eyes and puffy cheeks
#2-reddish brown chipmunk
#3-grey with yellowish belly (sorry about the heat lamp glow. A better picture of her color is included in another picture)
#4-black with white on its neck and belly (these still have a white feather or two on their wings when they are stretched out)
#5-greyish brown chipmunk stripes (breast is reddish now-colors remind me of a robin-picture of her inside added to see color)
#6-brown chipmunk, not reddish, more chestnut color (also added a picture of her inside so you could see her color better)

Thank you in advance for looking! I am so excited to learn more about the different breeds I’m raising and to learn from all of you!

Edited because I forgot to add the hatchery descriptions 😬

Hi! Other than to say #5 looks like a Legbar to me and the rest look an awful lot like chickens, I can't help you much with breed ID. Sorry, but I did want to extend the gracious hand of welcome anyway, and thank you for joining! I know others will gladly ID your birds for you. :frow

1: mixed breed Americana
2: ???????
3: some kind of sapphire olive egg? I think it’s looking a little rooster like.
4: Australorp maybe?
5 and 6: some sort of crested breed? Maybe cream Legbar?

Thank you for replying! I am so glad to be here! We thought Legbar but it wasn’t listed so we didn’t know if they would send something not listed. I appreciate your input and welcoming message!

#1 could be your Prairie Bluebell Egger, I got six of them and they were totally random except that one did look a lot like that, and only two looked similar; they look exactly like Brown Leghorns but they lay the most beautiful blue eggs!

Edit, ugh, typos! :barnie
