I picked up 6 pullets about 8 yrs ago from a local feed store, the breeds were all mixed in one bin, it was our first time as chicken tenders 🤣🤣 so we just pointed at the color patterns we liked and that was that, no care about breed names or qualities. Then over the years, chicken math took over and we’ve found stray chickens, adopted neighbor’s chickens, lost some to illness or predator attack, you know how it goes. Now I’ve gotten another set of chicks who are ready for the big girl coop soon, and I have three older ladies who are the OGs and I’m curious as to their breeds (better late than never I suppose 🙄)
One is obviously a Cochin but I don’t know the name of her particular color pattern and am curious about that. The black one came from a neighbor and I don’t know her breed, nor the gold bearded one. None of them are laying anymore, they are just living out their best retirement years, but the gold one has started showing dominant behavior and she crows now. This is new behavior in the last few months 🤣🤣🤣. (Also I think the gold chicken lays green eggs, the other two lay light brown to pink in color.)
Any help would be appreciated. Also I did my best with leg photos. I know they aren’t the best, but the Cochin is the only one with leg feathers. The other two have grey/ black legs.

The black is the Australorp, the gold is the Easter egger, the Cochin is actually a dark Brahma.
Oh! I genuinely thought I had a Cochin. Thank you for the clarification. This one has a scissor beak, but has never seemed to have any problems. I love this gal (Gertrude) so much that when we ordered new pullets from Meyer, I thought I had a Cochin, so I ordered a blue Cochin and she’s turning into a beautiful girl. Now I’ll have to do some homework on the differences between the two.

Again, thank you @TheOddOneOut and @JedJackson for the clarification!

You are welcome. Brahmas and Cochins are fairly similar. They both are big and have feathered legs. But Brahmas have a different comb type, aren't quite as fluffy, and come in different colors than Cochins.

I'd be inclined to call the black one an Orpington....no? Seems a bit chunky for an Australorp to me. Can't remember if they're supposed to have different skin colors or not...but IMHO, the black would be an Orpington. Your Dark Brahma is lovely. The main difference (when trying to identify them) between a Brahma and a Cochin is that Cochins have single combs and Brahmas have pea combs. Very easy to differentiate between the two. I agree on the EE. She's very pretty too.
ETA: Both Orps and Aussies have white skin, so I guess that doesn't help us much. Still looks too blocky to be an Aussie to me though....

Thank you for your input. She’s just an old, fat, happy girl. Her feathers have THE MOST gorgeous blue-green sheen in the sunlight.
She’s tough too. She survived a recent possum attack (we caught the possum with Tamika in its mouth at 4:30 am), and then she survived a very nasty territorial dispute on the roosting bar a few weeks ago because the EE has become quite aggressive lately and reminded Tamika that her bed is over 👉👉👉 there.
