Hello! :frow

I am considering getting a KC, and would like some reviews one them!

Do they lay as good as everyone says?

Metzer lists them as "Nervous". Are they?

Do they do well in a mixed flock?

Please post pictures!

Any other information is appreciated!

I raised them in the past. Nice ducks. Great layers if you get them young and it's difficult to tell, so it's a good idea to buy as ducklings or from a reputable breeder. They aren't what I'd call nervous, not nearly so much as Runners or the bantam breeds, but they're probably not going to eat from your hand, either. They do just fine in a mixed flock-- I had them with geese and chickens and mallards, although they were free ranged in the day and had tons of space. But I think they'd do just fine under reasonable conditions.

I haven't dealt with adult birds that I didn't brood myself, so I can't speak to that....ours are skiddish, but comfortable enough with us to be able to work around them without freaking out. Ours are little sweeties and we will always have some. They are great layers and foragers....ours started laying at 17-20wks and have ever since....we got them in June of '16. They are comical and entertaining and really, really Love water. We have the KCs and Rouens and here's a couole of pics.... IMAG2779.jpg IMAG2713.jpg ....that is Lil Bit coming out of the pool, she is our favorite one and the KCs like to talk to us too and are very routine oriented and will let ya know when you are out of routine....:)

My Campbell hen has this perfect nest she built to lay her eggs in, She has been giving me an egg a day so far... I have rouen, cayuga, blue swidish, campbell and a mixed breed of rouen and cayuga cross hens but I have to say my campbell is the only hen out of the 18 who lays an egg a day all year long. She is just a little cuddle bug too!
