I like the Rhode Island Red... That said I don't know everything about them, that's for sure & I don't know too much about any other breeds, next spring we are ordering chicks from a nice hatchery if we like the birds we get this year and I am thinking I would like to get a variety that cohabitate well and look different and provide white, brown, blue & green eggs. Anar.. Something's look beautiful and I think I remember them
Laying a nice color but being more difficult ? Anyway I could get 3-6 of let's say 4 breeds,'I don't have to obviously but I think my children would love the colors of the eggs and the differences in birds!!! So unless they won't get along ( I will get them together if that helps) then I think its fun ;-) I'm not looking to have roosters as we don't want breeding at the moment. Please share you're favorite hens and what you like about them! I'm going to build a nice coup and walk in run with removable roof... So I can't get them until
Next spring. Getting guinea foul in July so they should be a breed that tolerates their ruckus. Thanks!

My Rhode Island Red was the sweetest little baby! Loved being held and petted, but sadly I lost her to disease. My Easter Egger is sweet too. She loves being held close to your chest and she will lay colorful eggs. My Buff Orpington isn't quite as sweet, but she gets along really well with the others and likes me to stroke her beak. I wouldn't recommend Wyandottes as mine likes to pick at the other birds and is flighty, but she is a beautiful bird nonetheless.
