Breed Selection Tool... seriously?

The list it returned for me was longer than I anticipated but all of the ones I currently have are on the list as well as others I had not considered so it's nice to know these other breeds are also in the same type as what I wanted in my flock if I every need to make changes.

See, I like my chickens, and I unchecked the boxes in a way that I thought would leave me with pretty much what I have... nope! I think it said I should have leghorns too... I want a regular sized, any comb but single (frostbite issues), good layer, med-large eggs, bears confinement well, good for winter, docile, not aggressive, flighty, wild or noisy... and apparently all the birds I have (BO, GSL (yes, single combs, i know..), EE, chantecler, mystery ladies, mystery roo (maybe I should post pix!), appenzeler spitzhauben, etc. are NOT what I really want. Who'da thunk?

I have two groups...the mixed heritage hens and then the Brabanter. Of all the layers it's turning out that the Brabanters are my favorite. For a small hen they lay a nice sized white egg. This breed is very similiar to the Appenzeller Spitzhauben are very similiar. They bear confinement well, I think the flighty idea comes from their love of a high roost and they are great layers. The tool was pretty good. I imagine it would be hard to write the logic to return something more selective. What would you focus on to be the next level of filtering based on a yes/no choice?

I dont understand why it came back with 4 or 5 'AURACANA' breeds.. all standard, different pictures, and different attributes. some laid med. eggs, some laid large eggs. some laid really well, some moderately well, some were noisy.....

Well, I don't have my chickens yet but it came up with all the chicken breeds I was contemplating/planning on acquiring!

You obviously need more chickens. The tool only tells you which breeds are right for you. It assumes that you know there are no wrong breeds.

Mine came up empty as well.

I once used MPC's breed selector tool and the breeds it suggested for me I wouldn't own if you paid me to.
