Breed standard dominance question...

I'm trying to learn the very basics of strengthening breed standards through genetics. Here's where I am:

(P) White-Crested Black Polish (M) X Delaware (F)
(F1)(M) X (P)(F)... So, essentially son-to-mother breeding. I have 4 of her eggs in my incubator right now, due to hatch in 14 days.

I'm trying to strengthen the Delaware standard and breed out the Polish, if possible.

So, would my next cross be an F2 male with Mom? Or an F2 male with F2 female? (In a couple of years, of course.)

If your goal to to produce Delawares, why breed them to polish?

Yes, the next cross would be to mate a 3/4ths male back to the Delaware mother/grandma. If you hatch enough chicks from the current generation you should be able to get a 3/4 that has mostly Delaware traits. I would do weekly or every other week hatches for a month or two. It's not fun, but if you can you might consider culling the chicks as soon as they hatch, keeping only the ones with more Delaware down color and traits. As soon as you have a good 3/4th male that will mount hens you can repeat the process.

I've got to second this. They're almost complete opposites when it comes to breeds
