I'm fostering a friend's chickens and her duck. I don't have any Ducks so I want to make sure I'm keeping her right. She's doesn't know what kind of duck it is so that makes it hard for me to research. Anyone have an idea? It looks like a female Welsh Harlequin (there is some blue in the wings) but my friend said she was told it is a male and I don't know if those are even a popular breed here. We're in Murfreesboro, TN. Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

My late vote also goes to Female Welsh Harlequin. I have one who could be a twin to yours. That spotted pattern on the back (really her wing feathers) id typical of the female Welshies. And those dark places on the lateral area of the wing feathers become a gorgeous metallic blue/green band when the wings are unfurled.
Look at the back of the duck on the far left in the attached photo.

Yes! Just like her, those peaks of blue are beautiful. Thank you
