Some poorly bred d'uccle lack proper muffs unfortunately.

Some hatcheries combine muffed and birds lacking muffs together, and call them all Belgian d'Uccles. They can all be very nice birds, although not SQ. If you will be breeding them, select the individuals that have traits you like, in temperament, body type, and feathering. Otherwise, just enjoy who you have!

How old? Males will get a pink comb by 5-6 weeks, and a red by 6-8 weeks.

It's easier to tell if you have some of both sexes, and I can generally pick out the males by three weeks of age then.
