Is it possible to have a consistent/proper color/pattern on a mix? I've always seen mixes to have all sorts of weird, non recognized colors.

I only know that from BYC. Planning on ordering a splash marans if I get chicks, though.

Of course its possible. Color/pattern genes are just that. They're the same genes across all the breeds. All theyre responsible for is colors/patterns they have no concern about what breed theyre on.
So ya if two different breeds have the exact same pattern you can breed them together and get a mixed breed with a pure pattern that will breed true for the pattern.

Someone mentioned already - I’d guess Sapphire Splash also. A hybrid from Hoover’s, so sold at various farm stores. I have one who looks very similar, just a little less “splash” markings.
