If I put a couple of drakes into the breeding pen for 3 weeks at a time will they be OK on breeder feed. I feed Mazuri waterfowl and will be feeding Mazuri waterfowl breeder (can't remember the exact name) this season. Thanks

What does the package say? I am unfamiliar with this type of feed, i use a flock raiser since i own many drakes, from my understanding it's only the extra calcium found in layer feeds that are of concern for the boys.

Mazuri maintenance is fine, and Mazuri breeder will be fine for a short term although you may find the breeder is not needed and the maintenance is just fine.

Mazuri makes a starter that is better for young ducklings in brooders.

My bad, I don't have the lingo down yet.

I will feed starter to the ducklings, I meant to ask if the maintenance was OK for the ducks breeding and setting. Thanks for your help. I will make sure that the drakes are only on the breeder feed for a short amount of time.

if you use a separate bowl of oyster shell for the ducks to use as needed for calcium then yes the maintenance is just fine to use in the breeding pens.

Mazuri offers three blends:

Starter - 20% protein- ducklings
Maintenance -14% protein- general diet outside of breeding/laying season
Breeder -17% protein- during breeding/laying season
