What should I be giving my hens/rooster in order to boost protein for healthy hatching eggs? I bought some extra ground chuck to cook up and some Iams cat food. How much/how often should I feed this? Obviously on account of the frozen ground I can't dig up any worms. Local feed store had crickets but no meal worms. Any advice?

Thanks

What type of feed are you feeding know? What is the protein?
If the protein is at least 18% or better you will be OK. If you can get Buckeye feed where you are at then you could jut get there 18% Layer/ Breeder it has added Vitamins and minerals you need for hatching eggs.
If you cant get it then what you could do is use a good poultry vit./min. mix ( like the type you mix in the water) and you should be fine..

My hens get Layena 16%. The stores around here don't sell Buckeye though they do sell 20-22% turkey and game bird feed.

The 20% wouldn't be bad, and then you can add the Vit./ Min. to the water.. You might want to see if your mill has a Game Bird breeder that would work all so..
