Our pair of Khaki Campbell/Welsh Harlequins have successfully raised their first clutch. I'd like to keep one of the ducks for her extraordinary colouring but I'm afraid of allowing her to breed to her father, my only drake. Would that in fact be problematic? We're very new to this.

From what I have gathered through reading, this is considered line breeding and it is preferable to breed a daughter back to father or son back to mother over brother/sister matings. It should be fine. :)

One generation of inbreeding is unlikely to cause problems, in any case, as long as we aren't dealing with two animals that have a recessive gene for a genetic disease. The potential problem problem lies in whether or not the animals are semi-inbred already.
