I have a Black Sexlink that lays huge eggs and would like to breed her so my flock can keep her genitics. Problem is I live in a city and can't have a rooster. I have learned that both the hen and roo carry geens that help dictate egg size, so my problem is how do I get in touch with a breeder or local that has a roo with a propencity for breeding the "large egg gene"? Has anyone ever heard of a taking a hen to a breeder or local for stud purposes? I do realize I will not be able to color sex these birds that will be breed. Thanks for any comments....

if you bring your hen to a owner of the following breed you will have good quality egg layers..

Barred rocks
RIR
NH

or maybe if you are lucky you will find an owner of a sexlink rooster near your area. bring the hen to them and have the rooster mate with her for 2 days, then she will lay about a weeks worth fertelized eggs.. hatch them
