hen adopting 1m old

It seems one of my little hens might be taking up my latest clutch of chicks.They are not tiny by any means they are 1m old and the last couple of times I have been in the coop she is sleeping with all of the babies and they are under her and all beside her.She came out to get some food and started clucking at the bowl like the mama chickens do w/their babies.

If is vert possible that she is taking them as her own. I have an RIR that has adopted a couple of the babies I hatched in Nov.

Not all hens are so nice. Some will kill the little ones. Treat her really well. Shes a keeper. Jean

I had a gold laced wyandotte that did the same thing when the mother hen decided she'd had enough of them. They were about 5 weeks old at the time. It was sooo adorable. Consider yourself blessed...or, at least, the chicks should!
