Ok here is the stud of my flock I'm breeding this spring

He's got great colouring! What kind is he again?

This is mine, Odysseus, and he's been working *really hard* the past couple of weeks to get me some fertilized eggs. LOL

And here's my big momma hen, Athena (in truth, the rest pretty much look exactly like her from the front - the only way I can tell the top 3 apart is by the back of their crests & the 4th is the bottom of the pecking order so she's the smallest);

I had some bad news earlier this week that almost put a stop to my incubation next month, but my mom convinced me to still do it so fingers crossed! :)

They are all pretty birds! Athena reminds me of my Polish/Silkie mix. i just need a better camera so the color comes out better on mine....lol

I also have a polish mix roo, but can't keep him. :-( I don't have enough girls to warrant keeping another roo. He's getting so pretty though. You can't see the red splashes well in the pic but they are there;

Heliotrope is half wyandotte half polish sizzle and has a rose comb,feathered legs and no crest(this is what i will be breeding for this spring through his mom Wilda)

Here are some pictures of the fathers of the chicks. And they are all mix breeds

Moe. I bought him as a Silkie and he probably didn't have a drop of Silkie blood in him. RIP.

Sir Patrick La Ugly-Face (Pat) He was my OE that took forever deciding what he wanted to be. He was my least favorite roo.... So naturally he survived the dog attack

Kazoo, my big man who was a mixed Maran one of my favorite chickens

RIP went down trying to save his girls.

And a picture of Pat and Moe with some of the ladies. Ironically only two bird survived. And they are both in this picture.

I seriously just felt like posting their pictures because I could

Thank you. Apparently he and Moe looked like they had put up a fight. I can't handle dealing with their bodies so I really don't know. But I have a lot of Kazoo's chicks. Hopefully I get some nice pullets from him.

He might have some of that. When he was younger he had a slight crest. So I think there is some Appenzeller Spitzhauben too, and he was not very big.

I luckily have a decent tolerance now when i find a dead flock member oh man does it hurt but i guess im getting use to the fact we are raising prey and as prey they die :( :/ im glad you have his chicks though :) Heliotrope is the son of Peep my biggest and toughest rooster ive owned he was the best but he had a weak immune system and sickness finally took him from me :hit i LOVE GERMAN APPENZELLER SPITZHAUBEN CHICKENS!!!
