Awwww I bet they are going to be just adorable! I was hoping fir a bit more polish hair, but that wasn't to be. As tgey get older some seems to be growing in but it's going to be sparse. I was surprised by all the naked necks though. My white lf hatched 7 and 3 had feathered necks. My little bantam hatched 5 and every one was naked neck! Good luck on tge upcoming babies! Can't wait to see pics!

My chicks are 3 weeks old as of yesterday! I believe, for the moment, that I ended up with 21 cockerels and 17 pullets (of course its more boys than girls

Out of the ten eggs (all hatched) there were three girls and 7 boys. On the plus side the girls all laid early and often and big eggs and one just hatched two eggs three weeks ago and I got one boy and one girl so those odds are slightly better.
My husband keeps pointing out how much better it is to buy sexed peeps, but I'm having fun with genetics. Guess if I just want some girls I can buy some, if I want something specific I can hatch my own.
I now have some that would give me sex links. That can be one of next year's projects.

Hey all! Just saw this thread. I LOVE my barnyards babies!

We had a GLW roo and hatched a GSL cross with him. We also had an Austrolorp roo, and from him we hatched a bunch of EE crosses (they are so beautiful), and a GSL cross. We had to get rid of the Austrolorp, because he had started terrorizing our girls. But we had a hen go broody three days after he was gone, so I gathered up a bunch of eggs for one last hurrah from him. He was magnificent. So I have this hen sitting on a few EE crosses, a few leghorn crosses (I have a brown leghorn and an exchequer), and a few mistery brown eggs -- the possible crosses on the brown eggs are BR, GSL, and GLW. so excited to see! Seriously, barnyard mixes are like Christmas presents. You just never know what you have in store. Wish I could post pictures for you.

The GSL cross I have with this roo came out silver yellow, and is feathering out in the same pale color. We are excited to see how he/she turns out.
