Hi Shane good to hear from you.This has been a nice thread to read,right from the start,and educational as well.I like my pullet,I can see her good points and faults.I would darken the quills in her tail and lengthen her thighs for more tallness.

I cannot stress the fullness and length of tail and saddle on both males and females (back cushion/female saddles).It really does help make Leghorn type and backline (concave sweep) so needed for the American Leghorn shape.

I could go on and on about Leghorn style,back width,breast muscle,feather width,spread tails,wing carriage,skull shape,etc.The fine points that are gradually learned after the main points.Keeping the fundamentals like vigor ,size and egg production,always in mind.

My little chicks are doing well. Some chicks from the cross with the Buff Dutch Bantams have white tails. I will give away these birds for consumption.
The birds with black pepper in the tailes, I hold on for a while. For these birds I go looking for good combs, vigor, shape and colour. Also I select on rich feathers in their tails and saddle.

I know now that the Buff Dutch Bantams where made with Buff Columbian and Buff Columbian blue signed. I think that it gives more bleu in the tailes for a while.
I have a few pure Buff Leghorn Bantams this season, my coop is too small for many chicks as you know.

I will place soon some new pictures of my animals.

Hi Arie, Thanks ,I am glad you like my Buff Leghorn.I was glad to get your email about how the Buff Dutch bantams were made. I am convinced you can work them into your Buff Leghorn bantams.It may take you a couple of generations to work,but stay with it. If nothing else the outcross will boost ,vigor,hatch rate,and maybe laying ability.It will also widen your gene pool and allow some different type combinations.With your good eye for selection ,I am sure you will do well.The Buff Leghorns you already have are good. This is an old male still in the breeding pen and still fertile.They are good when they can hold good color from year to year.Notice he has settled down with age,that is why I like tall cockerels. Dan Honour

Yes baby chicks hatched last night 5 so far and still more to come today will post pic's of them one they have all fluffed up and i get some time
