Breeding Cochin and Silkie

I have a Cochin roo and two Silkie hens. I think he's mature since he has been trying to mate with my big girls. He falls off. It's so funny! I now have a fancy chicken run since they were standing in the rain and getting soaked. Is it hard for a little roo like that to breed with all those feathers? I put a couple eggs in the incubator that did nothing after a couple weeks. I cracked one open and it had a big white dot. I read somewhere that that means it's fertilized. Is that true? Is there any hope of getting some babies from them?

All eggs have a 'white dot' - that's the nucleus. In a fertilized egg the nucleus undergoes several cellular divisions creating the 'bulls eye' appearance. Do an on site search on "bulls eye" to see what a fertile egg looks like. Some Cochins are so fluffy that they need their vent feathers plucked so that they can make 'contact'. Cochin/Silky crosses make excellent broody hens.
