Breeding Ducks for Meat

I currently have 50 plus pekin ducks. I am planning on butchering most of them and keeping a dozen or so to use for breeding stock. My ducks are mainly raised for meat with their eggs being an added bonus.

Has anyone had good luck breeding their pekins? I have raised appleyards before and everything went smoothly.

The pekins get significantly bigger and grow at a faster rate so I would like to focus on building a strong flock that can keep me well fed.

Do you incubate the eggs or are you hoping for broody ducks?

I currently incubate their eggs. I have 25 in the incubator right now.

I have had Pekins in the past but not had luck with them hatching their own eggs. I currently have a pair of one week old appleyards ( along with 14 other ducklings) I am hoping to be able to breed the pair next year. I will probably incubate some of their eggs.
