I'd get a KC or Mallard Drake. I wouldn't get the crested Hen though because breeding can cause brain damage depending on how aggressive the Drake is during breeding.

breeding your Golden 300 HyLayer hen with a different duck breed will greatly reduce the risk of defects. different duck breeds tend to have different genetic defects specific to that breed so it is less likely that your Golden 300 HyLayer hen carries the same genetic defect as, say a kampbell or pekin. the hatching rate will most likely be increased. i would recommend getting a khaki campbell male because it is much lighter than a pekin in terms of weight. also a great layer breed and excellent forager
