Breeding for Color

Light blue in color with pearling. Both hens have white under the wings, one visible one not. What color do we call this?

They gave me a couple eggs right away and have now stalled out. The main flock is steadyily laying. Fingers crossed this trio gets busy with some blue eggs.

It’s lavender. White primaries are a common defect. They aren’t an issue but they would get marked down if shown.

And then there were four. This loyal guy has been wanting into the trio’s pen for two weeks. He never gave up.

So I offered an opportunity for him to slip in as long as the lavenders didn’t get out. He squeezed in. He seems to be the mate of the hen with the highest white primary feathers.

Now two cocks and two hens. Hopefully now they’ll get busy making eggs!

An update on my progress. First batch hatched 8/22 eggs, 5 survived. White, pied, and a ?sky blue??

Second batch hatched 4/22. Is the rusty keet a pewter?

@R2elk , my hopeful breeding pen of lavenders have been confined together since the beginning of May and no eggs. Be patient or turn them out with the main flock? So far, I’ve managed to ensure they are NOT in the gene pool of the eggs I’m hatching.
