Are there people that breed for roosters who does not crow at all or crow very little? Is it even possible to breed for such thing?

Can someone move this thread to the Exhibition, Genetics part of the forum? I made a mistake and would really like to find out if some of the more knowledgable genetic guru's over there can chime in as I'm really curious about this. Thanks.

You're not going to be able to breed the ability out of them genetically.
Crowing is behavioral so I suppose just as dogs have been bred towards being efficient at certain tasks you could go that route. Maybe with selective breeding and 100 years or so it could be done.
IMO it's just a selfish want on a humans part and people with selfish wants usually also selfishly want a quick fix so doubt anyone would put in the effort to get very far with it.

I think its certainly possible and Im going to give it a try. I think softer and quieter or even more musical crowwing is the most likely possibility since crow sound modification already exists in some breeds and a rooster unwilling to crow could be likely to have fertility problems as well. Its Its prob going to take all my life to make such a breed but Ill put the word out if I make any progress.
