BREEDING FOR PRODUCTION...EGGS AND OR MEAT.

Well, my handle isn't Fire Ant Farm for nothing - seems to be the thing my property produces the best.

I even have several different types/species of fire ant - and I seem to have become immune to the pain of the sting (I notice when I find the pustule afterwards). It's a sad sad state...

Oooh I see Fire Ant! Sounds like a good plan! Good luck with your breeding plans and hopefully you get many beautiful chicks this spring!

I'll check with them and see!

Yup. Had some health issues - ALV in a mother and daughter leading to me needing to cull a whole batch of pullets at POL, and another with ocular Mareks. So I've gotten a little discouraged about the idea of pursing them seriously. But I have three daughters of the one health rooster and one healthy hen, and the rooster is very gentle with his two girls and is my "hero" who almost died saving the rest, and is fantastic at raising the alarm int he yard, so he gets a pass until he dies of natural causes. So I'll keep these as "pets" as I like the blue eggs. I'll watch the heath of these pullets carefully to decide whether I will ever hatch more from this group.

But I have enjoyed them as a breed - mine have been very personable (like cats, not like dogs) and have had quite the spunk.
