BREEDING FOR PRODUCTION...EGGS AND OR MEAT.

I had three LF Cochin cockerels last yr, big birds. But it turned out mostly feathers, the RIRs weighed out dressed about a half pound more.

I might end up accidentally have a leghorn/New Hampshire mix later this year. Which may turn out to be a good thing. So we shall see

You'll never notice the difference once you take your first bite!

I'm going to purchase the capon kit. Kinda makes me wish I still drank.

Hi JRNash...I recently ordered a double set from Poco Pollo here on BYC that she ordered from China. I don't know that the prices are the same but I do know, the more she orders, the cheaper they are. Below is a representative/estimated cost that she sent me and it would up costing less. Contact here and she will do you right.

I have tried the ones made in the US and they will work but for generally less money for what you get, The Chinese stuff is so much better. They have been doing caponization for a few thousand years and have finally got the hang of it...

Hi Ron,

I recommend the capon tools from China. The Chinese have been caponizing cockerels longer than we have in the U.S. Our tools are not nearly as "useful" as those made by the Chinese.

This is the set made in the U.S.A. Several poultry suppliers sell it. the price ranges from $35.00 to $55.00. I held the rib dilator. It was light, fragile, and would not stay open. I would not recommend this set.

This is the Chinese double set for $26.40 + 8% commission for my guy in China + shipping within China + shipping from China to OK + shipping to you + $5 handling/processing fee to cover my costs.

This is the Chinese single set for $17.82 + 8% commission for my guy in China + shipping within China + shipping from China to OK + shipping to you + $5 handling/processing fee to cover my costs.

There's another set out. It's between the double set and small set in price and number of tools. I need to look to see if I still have the image. I'll send you a PM when I find it.

I don't know when I'll be ordering tools again. Ask around. Look at what's available online. Talk to people. Shipping within China is about the same as one expects to pay here. International shipping is higher, sometimes double the cost of what a package within the U.S. costs. From Oklahoma to you... You can estimate.

Some folks have ordered successfully through Tao Bao agents in China. These companies are set up like eBay. Unfortunately, many of the items shown are not available for export to the U.S. Mister Tao, for example, no longer ships capon tools to the U.S.

I hope this is helpful.

I found the information for the medium set. It's $18.00 plus the commission, 2 shipping charges and my handling fee. It looks like this:
