BREEDING FOR PRODUCTION...EGGS AND OR MEAT.

Don't know....would have to try it without any other attempts or methods of breaking a bird and see if it has any effect whatsoever. I've never heard of such a thing but that doesn't mean it doesn't work. A person just has to try it and see....but I do know this, a broody doesn't have a "fever".

If nothing else, maybe two eggs will cure a head ache.

Now, there just may be something to it beyond fever and such. Aspirin works by inhibiting prostaglandin production and prostaglandin works on many different levels in the body....if I were going to lay money on it working, I'd say it would be more likely to work on the hen's hormone levels or vascular constriction or dilation of her brood patch, rather than on her hypothalamus to prevent a non existent fever. But, I could be wrong....it happens all the time.

The diversity of receptors means that prostaglandins act on an array of cells and have a wide variety of effects such as:

I have alluded to the prospect that I won't be around here (BYC) for a LONG, LONG time and I've told one person outright. After Friday, Jan. 8, I will be taking a 'leave of absence'. After an appointment in NYC, my daughter and I are going to the DEEP SOUTH for vacation and should be back in the States by the last of Feb. or perhaps a bit sooner. WE are both taking laptops and Ariel may check in or even join but I think this thread and BYC needs a respite from me. I have a lot of things to get done that won't get done if I sit on my butt all the time with my face in this screen.

I will honor the promises I've made and those who are involved have my personal email and/or my home phone number. I hope everyone will carry on and keep this thread alive. I've noticed that it actually does better without my silliness. I will be in contact with those who are to get rabbits, birds and puppies before I 'sign off' to make sure we have open lines of communication.

Have a great time, Ron! You deserve it, my friend.

We're having fresh ramps this evening. My kids and 'son-in-law' are out digging them now. With the first snow here, they can more easily see the old stalk. They then pull back the leaves and dig up the fresh white delicious goodies! If they have more than one inch of green leaves on them, we won't even bother with them.

Here's a net pic...
